This Privacy Policy describes how On-Page SEO Inspector (“we”, “our”, or “the extension”) handles information when you install and use our Chrome extension.

1. Introduction

On-Page SEO Inspector is a Chrome browser extension that helps users analyze on-page SEO elements of websites they choose to inspect. The extension provides features such as SEO health scoring, meta tag analysis, heading and link audits, image checks, structured data review, resource analysis, technical SEO details, issue detection, and exportable reports.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information the extension may access, how that information is used, and what we do not do with your data.

2. Information We Access

The extension only accesses data from the active browser tab when you click the extension icon. We do not access pages in the background and we do not collect your full browsing history.

When you use the extension, it may read the following website content from the page you are viewing:

• Page title, meta description, canonical URL, robots, viewport, charset, HTML lang, author, keywords, and generator meta tags
• Open Graph and Twitter Card metadata
• Indexability signals from robots and googlebot meta tags
• Headings (H1–H6), links (including nofollow, UGC, and sponsored attributes), and image attributes
• Word count and visible text content length for content analysis
• Hreflang tags, pagination links (rel=next/prev), and sitemap references
• JSON-LD structured data and schema types
• Scripts, stylesheets, resource hints, favicons, inline SVGs, and related technical page details
• Local storage and session storage keys and values visible to the page (read-only)

This information is read from the page to generate SEO audit results inside the extension popup and optional full report view.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

The extension does not collect, store on our servers, or sell:

• Personally identifiable information (name, address, phone number, etc.)
• Financial or payment information
• Authentication credentials or passwords
• Personal communications
• Health information
• Your location
• Your complete web browsing history
• Keystrokes, mouse movements, clicks, or other user activity monitoring

We do not require you to create an account to use the extension.

4. How We Use Information

Information read from the active page is used only to:

• Display SEO inspection results in the extension popup
• Calculate an on-page SEO health score and issues list
• Show audits for meta tags, headings, links, images, schema, resources, and technical settings
• Allow you to copy results, export data (JSON/CSV), or open a full report in your browser
• In limited cases, correct a broken tab title on the active page if the page shows a placeholder title (such as “-”) and a valid title can be resolved from page metadata

All processing happens locally in your browser. We do not transmit inspected page data to our servers.

5. Data Storage

The extension uses chrome.storage.session to temporarily store report data on your device when you open the Full Report page. This data:

• Stays on your device only
• Is not sent to external servers operated by us
• Is cleared when your browser session ends

No other persistent user data is stored by the extension on external servers.

6. Data Sharing and Sale

We do not sell, rent, or trade user data. We do not share inspected page data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. The extension does not include third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

7. Permissions Used

The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

• activeTab — to access the currently open tab only when you click the extension
• scripting — to inject a local read-only scraper script that collects SEO data from the active page
• storage — to temporarily save report data in your browser session for the Full Report feature

8. Third-Party Websites

The extension analyzes third-party websites that you choose to visit. Those websites are operated independently and have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for how third-party websites handle your data.

9. Contact Form on This Website

If you contact us through our contact page, the information you voluntarily submit (such as your email address and message) is processed by Formspree so we can respond to your inquiry. This contact form is separate from the Chrome extension and is only used if you choose to contact us through our website.

10. Children’s Privacy

On-Page SEO Inspector is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Your Rights and Choices

Because the extension processes page data locally and does not store it on our servers, you control use of the extension by choosing whether to open it on a given page. You may uninstall the extension at any time through Chrome’s extension management page (chrome://extensions).

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the extension or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
